Lucas Correia Lima
Tell me a bit about you!
My name is Lucas, I'm 28 years old and I come from Brazil/Italy.
Since the age of 8, I have been playing the guitar. I started learning some songs from my father, by the age 10 I had fallen in love with the classical guitar. At this time I decided to take some formal lessons. At the Conversatório Federal de Pelotas, Brazil, I studied music theory and guitar perfomance with Prof. Maurício Machado Nunes.
Musician

After that, I received the opportunity to study with Prof. Luiz Cláudio Ribas Ferreira in Curitiba. After doing an exchange program for a year in Colombia, I moved back to Brazil to study my bachelor in Music at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul. There I was assisted by Prof Paulo Inda and Prof Marcos Araújo. During this time, I also took private lessons with Prof Fabio Zanon and I participated in festivals and competitions around South America. I received several prizes during this time, including, 3th prize in the Peru International Guitar Competition in 2015, 1st prize at the Uruguay International Guitar Competition in 2015 and the Guitar Coop award in 2017.
What do you want to express artistically?
In my career I have had the opportunity to share my music in different countries in Europe and Latin America. My main goal as an artist has always been to communicate openly and honestly with my public. Every perfomance is for me an opportunity to create a new experience and a companionable environment. My repertoire includes works written for solo and chamber music by composers from different centuries and countries, such as Johann Sebastian Bach, Franz Schubert, Mauro Giuliani, Luigi Legnani, Heitor Villa-Lobos, Luiz Bonfá, Tom Jobim and Steve Reich.
Chinnawat & Lucas Guitar Duo

In 2018 I moved to Europe to study my master degree at the Universität Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria, under the guidance of Prof. Marco Tamayo. While undertaking my masters, I made new friendships and met incredible musicians. One of them is the great guitarist Chinnawat Themkumkwun.
In 2019 we created the Chinnawat & Lucas Guitar Duo. An ensemble in which we work on spreading the beauty of the Spanish repertoire for two guitars.
New ideas and styles
In 2021 I started to study my second master degree, this time in Music Pedagogy in the Hochschule der Künste Bern. Despite the fact that the classical guitar has a main role in my life, during this time, I have been exploring new possibilities as an artist. In this process, I combine the classical approach with different instruments, as electric guitar, western guitar and ukulele. Apart of that I explore new styles, such as contemporary music, Jazz, Blues, Bossa Nova and Pop.
